With a focus on positive models, positive examples and positive action, Unlocking Eve Co-Founders Eva McLellan and Kaye Vitug launched an important conversation about the essential role of women leading at all levels to help build back toward a healthier world post-pandemic. But that was just the beginning.
With the support of InTent, Unlocking Eve debuted on a global stage at the SDG Tent in Davos in May 2022, as part of the World Economic Forum. Kaye and Eva posed an insightful question based on data: What unique contributions were women leaders bringing to pandemic recovery and in healing the world? And how were some leaders – men and women – steering populations through the Covid-19 crisis with fewer deaths, and minimizing economic damage?
Fast forward to January 2023. Unlocking Eve returned to Davos, again with the support of InTent and bolstered by a growing community of leaders around the world, as well as insights from robust research and pilot programs. Their initial question led to a crystallized passion and purpose for Unlocking Eve: Unlocking integrated leadership in all people for a balanced and healthier world.
This year, the WEF sounded the alarm on a “polycrisis” of multiple interconnected global crises threatening the health and well-being of people and the planet, and urged urgent action. Unlocking Eve was already responding with solutions – based on the premise that our current crises were preceded by a crisis in leadership
“We feel from leaders a sense of urgency and readiness to act, be, and lead differently. Without the motivation to change ourselves, we cannot begin to inspire change in others or change the systems that we operate in.”
Eva McLellan and Kaye Vitug, Co-Founders, Unlocking Eve
Following their ethos of turning insights and intentions into action, Unlocking Eve’s participation at Davos 2023 included a discussion with healthcare panelists and experts across business, government and civil society. The goal? Highlight the untapped potential and shared perspectives of others in unlocking leadership in health equity – and use that wisdom to move toward solutions to heal the world.
