To navigate challenging times, we are pioneering a new method for integrated, balanced leadership, essential to transform and heal the world.
At the height of the Covid pandemic - in the midst of suffering, healthcare inequity and crashing financial markets - our founders spotted that a handful of countries were achieving better outcomes, as their leaders took their citizens through the crisis with fewer deaths and minimal economic damage.
Countries led by women had 6x fewer deaths during the early stages of the COVID pandemic
Women make 80% of healthcare decisions for their families and society
Women represent 70% of the total healthcare workers
Only 15% of decision makers in healthcare systems are women
It is not just about gender, but rather the result of balanced and integrated leadership
These leaders were seamlessly accessing and integrating directive (so-called “masculine”) qualities, with relational (“feminine”) traits. They would demonstrate decisiveness backed by scientific evidence, while simultaneously connecting with citizens and rallying people to work together.
Unlocking Eve’s co-founders began to codify this data into a new method for leadership based on the integration of traditionally masculine and feminine traits, intimately and positively correlated with business and healthcare outcomes. Our data was supported by interviews with more than 60 leaders and their own corporate experience in the healthcare domain.
The ability to stretch across your full range of capacities is what we call the Unlocking Eve Integrated Leadership Practice.
Our research shows that integrating decisiveness with reflectiveness, agency with community, rational with intuitive, and power with empowerment, is intimately correlated with positive business and healthcare outcomes. The Power of Two unlocks Integrated Leadership on three levels.

Our Goals
At the heart of Unlocking Eve lie two goals:
We’ll achieve our goals through primary and secondary research and insights, and by accelerating action with high-impact awareness campaigns. We will advance a new profile of leadership excellence that will be used to develop and select leaders.
The Unlocking Eve name is inspired by the passion and partnership of our founders, Kaye Vitug and Eva McLellan, supported by André Hoffmann.
Eva brings a track record of empowering individuals and organizations to unlock breakthroughs to the challenges facing health systems. Her nearly 20-year career in biotechnology includes leadership roles in Canada, Europe and Switzerland. Eva also holds an honours Bachelor of Science and masters of biotechnology from the University of Toronto, and is a graduate from INSEAD business school’s General Management program.
A purpose-driven leader with a mission of empowering others, Kaye is a Filipino-American healthcare finance executive with 25 years’ experience in the US, Switzerland, South Korea and the UK. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines. Kaye's values are ingrained by her family of teachers, nurses and social workers, who showed how empowered women bring wellbeing to their communities.
André Hoffmann is the Vice-Chairman of Roche Holding and a passionate advocate for business as a force for good. Alongside his non-executive role in the family business and numerous corporate board memberships, André has served on a number of non-profit boards. He and his wife Rosalie also established the Hoffmann Global Institute in Business and Society (HGIBS) at INSEAD, aiming to integrate sustainability across the MBA curriculum.
The Unlocking Eve name
Eve is an ancient name, derived from the Latin Eva, meaning source of life and vitality. We combined this with the origins of Kaye, which once stood for “keeper of the keys”. Unlocking Eve unites the power, passion and partnership of co-founders and healthcare executives Eva McLellan and Kaye Vitug, to “unlock integrated leadership in all for a balanced and healthier world”.
